Weather Forecast for Berkshire Hathaway Weekend

Monday, May 1st, 2017

I am so glad this past weekend was not Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

It was rainy. And cold. And windy. And miserable. And a few miles outside of Omaha, it was snowy.

This is not how Nebraska usually looks on May 1st. Photo Courtesy Antelope County News.

But we promise things are looking up! By the time most shareholders arrive into Omaha on Friday, we’ll be back to our usual spring loveliness around here!

The forecast from our good friends at KETV (the local ABC affiliate) shows some perfect weather just in time for shareholders to arrive.

70s and sunny sound amazing – especially after all the rain and nasty weather. It even looks dry – so hopefully we won’t have a bunch of soaked shareholders this year.

Pack accordingly, Berkies! We’ll see you in a few days!

Mild Weather on Tap for Berkshire Shareholders

Monday, April 18th, 2016

I know it’s about two weeks away, but I’m a planner and when we have an event as big as Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend, you can bet I’m watching the weather.

And I realize Nebraska weather can be impossible to predict a day ahead of time, much less 14 days ahead of time.

But my old coworker at KETV, Chief Meteorologist Bill Randby, does a great job of forecasting and his 14-day-outlook that includes Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend looks pretty good!

KETV 14 day forecastWe’ll take mild with highs in the upper 60s. (It’s better than super hot or the year we had snow!) We could do without the chance of rain, but less than 50% seems okay for now.

And we will keep an eye on the weather as we get closer to Berkshire weekend. I’m sure Bill Randby and all the other wonderful local meteorologists will do their best to help us prepare for whatever the weather gods will throw at us!

Beautiful Berkshire Weekend in Store!

Monday, April 27th, 2015

This is a relief!

An amazing looking forecast for our 44,000 friends celebrating 50 years of Berkshire Hathaway with us this weekend!

KETV's Bill Randby says it's going to be a beautiful weekend!

Look at that gorgeous forecast! Sunny. Warm, but not sweltering. A chance of rain, but not a huge chance.

We’ll take it for five days out!

And we will keep an eye on the forecast as the week progresses in case there are any changes, but pack accordingly, shareholders. It’s a beautiful time to visit Omaha!

Cool Weather on Tap for Berkshire Shareholders

Tuesday, April 29th, 2014

The best news of all is that it will not snow for this year’s Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

I shouldn’t have to write that because it is always the first weekend in May, but do you remember last year!?!

Snow covers the Borsheims parking lot on Berkshire Hathaway Eve 2013

We were not happy. We were scrambling to find heaters to put in our outdoor tents. We were doing snow removal to make room for cars in our parking lot. And we were just plain sick of the cold and snow.

Thankfully, there is no snow in the forecast this year.

But it doesn’t look very warm, either.

KETV Forecast

This forecast, courtesy of our friends at KETV in Omaha says it should be nice by midday Saturday and Sunday. Sunny, highs in the mid 60s. A little chilly for the folks waiting outside the CenturyLink Center early Saturday morning to snag a good seat for the meeting, but otherwise okay.

It may be a little cold at our Friday night cocktail party at Borsheims. No worries there. We have a great band that will keep people dancing and after last year, we definitely know where to find portable heaters!

Do NOT Look at the Forecast, BRKers!

Monday, April 29th, 2013

Pack your bags, hop on the plane (or into the car) and come to Omaha this week for the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting!

Know that it is beautiful here today. It may reach 80 degrees!

And it should be just as beautiful tomorrow.

But DO NOT look at this 7-day forecast for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

Really, you shouldn’t. It may make you sad.

KETVYou were warned.

The good news is that most of our events at Borsheims are inside (or in a tent that gets nice and warm).

The other piece of good news is that any snow that might come this first weekend in May will be light and likely won’t cause any travel problems.

Bring a jacket!

It’s Hot for Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Seriously. It’s going to be hot. So much for that spring-like forecast from earlier this week.

We’re talking upper 80’s and humid today according to local station WOWT. Dress appropriately! That indoor/outdoor cocktail party we’re hosting tonight at Borsheims could get a little steamy.WOWT Weather

Weather Update for Berkshire Hathaway weekend

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

It is going to be gorgeous! It is seriously beautiful out.

Check out the 7-day forecast from our friends at KETV:

7 day forecast

And it has been a beautiful and early spring so far. For instance, my peonies are in full bloom. That usually happens over Memorial Day. The only complaint I’ve heard about the great weather is that people with allergies are really suffering. So if you’re one of those people, pack your allergy meds along with your credentials.

See you soon!

Wind, wind not today. Don’t blow Berkshire shareholders away!

Friday, April 29th, 2011

The Berkshire Hathaway shareholders’ weekend is one of the biggest weekends for Omaha. The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau loves it. The Chamber of Commerce loves it. We at Borsheims love it.

Why, oh why, won’t mother nature cooperate!?!

It’s not the worst weather we’ve had, but a wind advisory is not what we asked for… especially with this monstrosity to worry about!

It’s withstood major winds before, so a little 30-40mph wind gust should be tolerable. The official National Weather Service advisory says we should “secure trash cans, lawn furniture or lightweight outdoor objects.” Done.

The tent does keep things nice and cozy inside, and the party and dancing will go on as scheduled. We’re just finishing the set-up inside and hope to see you when the party begins at 6:00.

(Don’t pack an umbrella… if it happens to rain just buy a Berkshire Hathaway one!)
