Sunday Funday at Borsheims

Sunday, May 1st, 2016

Sunday is such a fun day at Borsheims. It’s really my favorite day of Berkshire shareholders weekend. It’s a little more relaxed than the rest, and we have all these fun games happening in Regency Court – right outside of Borsheims.

Back by popular demand… my helpful hints to playing the games today:

BRIDGE Bridge is again upstairs this year on the second floor of Regency Court. Anyone is welcome to play as long as they know how to play bridge. It helps if you already have your foursome put together, but if you’re solo come upstairs and sign up and we’ll try to get a group together for you. Bridge usually begins at 1pm, but a few people have been known to start playing earlier. We will have the sign-up sheet ready at noon and if you definitely want a seat, that’s when you should arrive. The experts, Sharon Osberg and Bob Hamann usually arrive between noon and 1pm. In his letter to shareholders, Warren Buffett says he will play them and hopes to “have Ajit and Charlie there also.”

Ariel Hsing plays Warren Buffett and Bill Gates

Olympian Ariel Hsing plays Warren Buffett and Bill Gates in Table Tennis at the 2012 Shareholders Meeting

TABLE TENNIS Mr. Buffett asked Ariel Hsing, Olympic Table Tennis star, back to Borsheims for another shareholders weekend! We are expecting her to start playing around 1pm. Shareholders can form a queue to try their table tennis skills against the young champ. We will provide paddles and balls, but if you are partial to your own paddle, you are welcome to bring it. Ms. Hsing usually stays for a few hours and rarely gets beat, but you’re welcome to try! We expect Mr. Buffett and Bill Gates to lead off the play with her.

MAGICIAN Norman Beck is an excellent magician and will do tricks in front of (and to) any shareholder near where he’s performing. He is usually located near Williams Sonoma, so be camped out there if you’re hoping to catch his show.

Hope you can join us for the fun!

Good morning!

The brunch lines are open, the juice and coffee are flowing and the shoppers are already picking out the jewelry, watches and gifts they want to take home.

Here are a few reminders for the day:

– We have brunch from now until the food is gone (we have a lot of food!)

– The brunch and bar are in both the mall and the tent.

– The tent also has our wonderful musical entertainment later.

– The games begin around 1pm. Here is information on how you can play.

Who’s Singing at Borsheims for #BRK2014?

Thursday, April 3rd, 2014

With these bands, the question will be “who isn’t singing at Borsheims!?!”

We have an exciting new band set to perform on Friday night. As long-time Berkshire Hathaway weekend attendees know, Friday tends to be the rowdier party. Especially in the tent outside Borsheims! Apparently, our Berkshire Hathaway shareholders can dance like crazy for hours, have several cocktails, and still make it up bright and early Saturday morning for all the shopping and annual meeting fun they can handle.

The band for this year’s Friday night party at Borsheims may increase the dancing even more! Meet “The 402”:

The 402The group is comprised of several long-time Omaha and Lincoln musicians. Their slogan? “Super hits from everywhere for all to dance to.” So, that should cover everyone, huh! Band member Chris Saub has performed solo for Berkshire guests in the past. And I heard band member Eddie Brown sing when we were in college together (many) years ago. They are both incredible. You can check out more about the band on their Facebook page.

Michael Lyon

Sunday at Borsheims is a more laid-back atmosphere; less party and more easy-listening. Helping us set the mood is Michael Lyon. He sings everything from big band to Broadway to Opera. His performance in the tent will go well with our breakfast buffet, coffee and mimosas.

We are sure you will love these bands as much as we do. We put a lot of thought and time into making the weekend a wonderful one for our guests, the shareholders.

Chess, Bridge, Magic & Ping Pong for Berkshire Shareholders

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

The fun and games start at 1pm today at Borsheims for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders.

And we want you to have fun and games, too! Join us by playing along. Here’s how:

BRIDGE Bridge is again upstairs this year on the second floor of Regency Court. Anyone is welcome to play as long as they know how to play bridge. It helps if you already have your foursome put together, but if you are solo come upstairs and sign up and we will try to get a group together for you. Bridge usually begins at 1pm, but a few people have been known to start playing earlier. I say get there by noon at the latest if you definitely want a seat. The experts, Sharon Osberg and Bob Hamann usually arrive between noon and 1pm. We do not know if Warren Buffett or Bill Gates will play bridge this year.

CHESS This is really amazing to watch. Patrick Wolff is a two-time U.S. Chess Champion and Grandmaster. He will play six people at the same time while blindfolded. It is incredible to see. If you want to be one of the six people to try to beat Patrick, you can sign up at the Media/Info kiosk in the center of Regency Court starting at noon. At 1pm, we will take the list over to the chess area and draw the names of the six people who will play. You must be there at 1pm when your name is called in order to have a seat.

TABLE TENNIS Mr. Buffett asked Ariel Hsing, Olympic Table Tennis star, back to Borsheims for another shareholders weekend! We are expecting her to start playing around 1pm. Shareholders can form a queue to try their table tennis skills against the young champ. We will provide paddles and balls, but if you are partial to one you are welcome to bring it. She usually stays for a few hours and rarely gets beat, but you are welcome to try! We do not know if Mr. Buffett or Mr. Gates will play against Ariel Hsing this year.

MAGICIAN Norman Beck is an excellent magician and will do tricks in front of (and to) any shareholder near where he is performing. He is usually located near Williams Sonoma, so be camped out there if you are hoping to catch his show.

Berkshire Shareholder Shopping Day is here!

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

Aaah…. we love shareholder shopping day!

Sunday is my personal favorite day of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

Friday night is fun, but a little on the wild side.

Saturday is fun, but most of the action is at the CenturyLink Center.

Sunday is great. We have food, drinks, plenty of entertainment and great shopping. It’s the perfect combination!

Here are some quick links to remind you about today.

Our Entertainment (chess, bridge, magician and table tennis)

Our Band (The Potash Twins are back again)

Our Refreshments (brunch and open bar)

Our Salesman (aka “Crazy Warren”)

The best day yet starts at 9am! See you then!

Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Brunch at Borsheims

Saturday, May 4th, 2013

Our caterers are hard at work today preparing your brunch for tomorrow morning.

It is always delicious!

The set up will be the same as it was Friday night for the cocktail party. There will be a buffett line inside Regency Court in the southwest hallway. There will be another buffett in the tent in our parking lot.

And again – because it is a bit chilly this year – our tent is heated and has doors. It was nice and toasty in there on Friday night. I’m sure Sunday morning it will be lovely in there once again.

The food tables and the bar will open at 9am on Sunday. I know several shareholders will come early to stake their place in line, but we usually have plenty of food all the way through the morning and early afternoon.

See you there!
