Read About the Women of Berkshire – Silicon Prairie News

Friday, May 4th, 2012

There is a new book out about Berkshire Hathaway this year that is unlike any other Berkshire Hathaway-related books out there.

This one is different because it is about the women involved with Berkshire Hathaway, including our own President & CEO Susan Jacques. Susan is one of four female managers (out of 80 total). Read more about the author, Karen Linder, and why she wrote the book.

DSC05318Hey Weekenders,

Just left the Berkshire Tweetup. It was really cool to see Tweeple from so many places hanging out and talking Berkshire. A lot of familiar faces were there too. I want to give a special thanks to Borsheims and Silicon Prairie News for sponsoring the event. It as really nice.@hello Ryan and @lecaprew

Following Warren and Charlie’s Q&A, the tweetup was held at the Slowdown (729 North 14th Street). A bit of trivia: The Slowdown is a rock club and bar opened by the founders of Saddle Creek Records, the independent record label behind such artists as Bright Eyes and Cursive. Read more about the Slowdown’s history at theslowdown.com/info.

This event was open to the public, there was no cover at the door, but you had be 21+ to attend.

If you are still hanging out at the Slowdown, enjoy The Mynabirds Record Release Show which will be going on tonight starting at 9 p.m. For more information visit theslowdown.com/events/the-mynabirds-record-release-show.

There were about 30-40 people there when I left. So, I just wanted to drop a few names:

Hello Berkshire Weekenders,

As you come into Omaha for Berkshire Hathaway weekend there will be a lot of things to do, places to go and people to see!

Day 291/365

New this year is a Berkshire Tweetup, a semi-impromptu meeting of Twitter users who are interested in talking Berkshire. Both shareholders and non-shareholders are invited to drop by the Slowdown on Saturday, May 1st from 3:30-5:30pm. The Slowdown is located just a few blocks west of the Qwest Center on 14th Street (729 N. 14th Street). Here are directions.

The Slowdown is a rock club run by the founders of Omaha’s own Saddle Creek Records. This event will be hosted by Silicon Prairie News, a blog and event producer founded in Omaha, Nebraska in July 2008. On SiliconPrairieNews.com, you’ll find interviews with entrepreneurs and creatives, reports on startups and established companies and event announcements.

We hope that you can make it to the Tweetup. For more information and to RSVP, check out the Tweetvite. And stay up-to-date with the latest Berkshire Hathaway Meeting Information on Twitter at @BorsheimsBRK. Please tell your friends about the Tweetup or send out a tweet with the hashtag #BRKtweetup.
