Insider Tips for Friday’s Cocktail Party at Borsheims

Friday, May 5th, 2017

Are you ready to party with thousands of your closest shareholder friends while checking out some of the world’s most amazing jewelry, watches, and gifts?

Get ready! Because the party at Borsheims starts in just a few short hours!

Here are some helpful tips for getting the most out of your Friday night Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend kick-off party:
  • Plan ahead for parking. It will be tight and some of the businesses near Borsheims will tow if you park in their lots. My ideas: carpool, Uber or taxi, or ride the Borsheims shuttle from Westroads that runs from 5:30-10pm. There will be a lot of signage up to direct you at Westroads.
  • Bring your patience for the bar and buffet. We have two of each – a full set-up inside Regency and a full set-up in the tent outside. They’re both usually packed with long lines, especially when the party begins at 6pm.
  • You want to dance? Hit up the tent outside. We’ve got a great band playing! Bluehouse is a local favorite!
  • Shopping is a bit tricky on Friday night with all the people. If you’re serious about shopping, we recommend arriving earlier in the day to allow you the best shopping experience. You can still shop Friday night, but moving around the store is a bit more difficult.
  • Bathrooms? The porta-potties outside might be your best bet. Otherwise there are restrooms back by the fountains in Regency or through Borsheims gift gallery near customer service.
  • Remember it’s a cocktail party! Bring your cocktail party attitude and get ready for some fun! You’ll be mingling with other shareholders, getting an eyeful of beautiful jewelry, and enjoying the excitement that Berkshire weekend always brings.
We’re so glad to have you here! If you have any tips – or any questions – hit me up at the shareholder info booth at Borsheims or leave a comment here.

Plan your Berkyville Buys Now!

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

We’re almost two weeks away from the most fun annual shareholders meeting on the planet!

It’s time to start thinking about what deals you can score when you shop in Berkyville – the huge convention center filled with Berkshire Hathaway companies selling their goods to you at a steep discount.

We don’t know yet what kind of great deals our sister companies like Pampered Chef and Brooks will be running this year.

We do know the Bookworm (not a Berkshire company, but a friend) has released its list of Warren Buffett-approved books they’ll have on site. Click here to see what the Oracle hopes you read.

And we’re ready at Borsheims to share the incredible deals on jewelry, watches, and gifts we’ll be offering. These deals are available both Friday and Saturday at the CenturyLink Center and they really are incredible. We have diamond studs, pearl strands, watches, and all sorts of Berkshire Hathaway souvenirs you’ll want to take home at you – at prices that no one can beat.

Watch the video to get a glimpse of all we have to offer this year. But act quick if you want to purchase during Berkshire weekend. Many of our items sell out quickly!

What’s the Most Expensive Piece at Borsheims This Year?

Friday, April 29th, 2016

The question I get asked the most each year (other than where to find the restrooms) is what is the most expensive item at Borsheims.

Here is this year’s winner…

Yellow Diamond

It’s a 56.10 carat fancy intense yellow diamond.

Want to take it home? We’d love to have a shareholder buy it! Retail price is more than $6 million, but a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder can take it home for $4.6 million.

Borsheims Exclusives – Jewelry You Can Find ONLY at Borsheims

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015

Prepare to be impressed.

Borsheims has several pieces of jewelry this weekend that you can ONLY see here. As in – exclusive, one-of-a-kind, first peek, jaw-droppingly beautiful jewelry and watches.

Check them out!

This is a conch pearl necklace from TARA Pearls. It took more than 7 years to assemble all the pearls since only 1 in 10,000 pearls from a conch is jewelry worthy. And then to find pearls that match enough in color and size!?! That makes this a true work of art. A necklace similar to this one sold at Sotheby’s for $1.1 million several years ago. To find out how much it will cost you to take this one home, see a salesperson in the store!

These pear shaped yellow diamond earrings are not small. With 38 total carats, these earrings are listed at over $2.5 million.

Pink diamonds are rare. Pink diamonds of this clarity, color and size are incredibly rare. This fancy pink diamond ring is over 5 carats and is listed at $3.8 million.

I love this story. Designer Roberto Coin has been a partner of Borsheims for several years. To celebrate our long relationship, he created a special collection you can find ONLY at Borsheims. It’s beautiful! It’s called the Silk collection and is made of lightly spun gold threads. It’s an updated twist on an old classic, which is what Roberto Coin does best.

The best part about the Silk collection might be its price point. The pieces are generally under $5,000.

Designer Marco Bicego also brought several one-of-a-kind pieces in this weekend. This gorgeous blue necklace is Lapis and sells for $9,510 (shareholders always get a discount!).

The earrings are black opal and you can remove the gold dangle at the bottom, making it two pairs of earrings in one.

This necklace was handmade by Marco Bicego with a technique he learned from his father. He took 18k gold and hand-twisted it around a wire. The piece is only in Omaha and is beautiful.

Speaking of only in Omaha… check out these Cartier watches. Get a good look, because this is the world premiere of the Cle de Cartier watches. They feature a new in-house movement. The collection officially launches in September, but Berkshire Hathaway shareholders can take them home this weekend!

On the diamond front, we are happy to host the Forevermark Exceptional Diamond collection. Here’s what Forevermark says about the collection:

Exceptional Diamonds are kept separate from other diamonds from the moment of discovery. Their carat weight, color and purity classify them as extraordinarily valuable and rare. The De Beers Group of Companies has to mine over half a million rough diamonds to discover just one that meets the exacting standards required of an Exceptional. They are truly in a class of their own.IMG_7978

One of the coolest features of the Forevermark Exceptional Diamond collection is that you can name your diamond. Then, a coffee table book will be produced for you about your diamond featuring it’s name. I would name this 5 carat cushion cut ring above the “Costs As Much As My House But More Beautiful” diamond!

What to Buy at the Borsheims Booth at CenturyLink Center

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

Did you remember we get two shopping days at the CenturyLink Center this year instead of one?

In Warren Buffett’s annual letter to shareholders, he announced that Berkyville will be open both Friday and Saturday to accommodate the thousands of shareholders who want to do a little reinvestment of their Berkshire dollars!

At Borsheims, we order special merchandise just for the CenturyLink Center booth. Much of it is Berkshire-themed, and all of it is great!

Take a look at this youtube video for a full rundown of what’s at the booth. And we’ll see you Friday from 12-5 or Saturday from 7-4 at the CenturyLink Center.

It’s #WowzerWednesday at Borsheims (Emphasis on WOW!)

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015

Every week is a pretty great week to work at Borsheims.

But this week probably takes the cake.

Look what’s landing at the store!

Rahaminov Cuff Rahaminov Cartier Rahaminov Pink melee

The above #WowzerWednesday items are coming to Borsheims from one of our favorite long-time vendors, Rahaminov Diamonds. They’re also responsible for the 50 carat yellow diamond ring we showed you earlier!

Another favorite is TARA Pearls, who assembled this incredible strand of pearls.

TARA Pearls

This pearl strand took five years to make, collecting natural rare conch pearls piece by piece in rounds and semi-rounds. It’s an extremely rare piece and has a price tag to match – $1 million! That makes me say ‘wow’!

Beyond those stunning pieces, there are several that are just downright fun.

Roberto Coin is coming in with an animal theme this year!

Hedgehog Arabian_Horse_Limited Ed

I think the hedgehog might be my favorite!

If you love jewelry, there’s no better place to be this week than at Borsheims!

50 Carat Diamond for 50 Years of Berkshire Hathaway

Friday, April 17th, 2015

We found the most amazing way to commemorate 50 years of Berkshire Hathaway.

With a 50 carat natural fancy yellow cushion cut diamond ring!

FancyYellowIt’s gorgeous, isn’t it!?!

The retail price on it is $2.3 million, but our Berkshire Hathaway shareholders can get it at a discount, of course.

It hasn’t landed in the store yet, but once it does you can bet we’ll have pictures of it on our fingers. Come in during Berkshire Hathaway weekend and check it out for yourself!

Warren Buffett, Retired Jewelry Salesman

Tuesday, April 14th, 2015

We knew it couldn’t last forever. Our best (and certainly our most well-known) jewelry salesman retired after an incredible few stints behind the jewelry counter.

Warren Selling

Warren Buffett sells jewelry to a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder during the 2012 Shareholders Meeting

Calling himself “Crazy Warren,” Mr. Buffett sold jewelry to shareholders during a two-hour shift inside Borsheims luxury salon on the Sunday of Berkshire Hathaway weekend. He made some big sales and lived up to his “Crazy Warren” moniker by giving prices so low it made our President & CEO cringe.

But what truly made Warren Buffett a great salesman was that he was able to participate in the special moments in our customers’ lives… including this surprising moment last year.

While we will miss Mr. Buffett behind the jewelry counter, we’re thrilled to still welcome him to Borsheims during the shareholders weekend. Each year, he comes by and is a part of the entertainment, playing ping pong or bridge and shaking a few shareholders’ hands along the way. Come by on Sunday, May 3, and see our best retired salesperson for yourself!

Reminder: Exclusive Jewelry at Borsheims Booth Today!

Saturday, May 3rd, 2014

Warren Buffett asks us every year to provide some special deals for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders at the CenturyLink Center during Saturday’s annual meeting.

We are happy to oblige!

These deals are available ONLY today and ONLY at the Borsheims Booth at the CenturyLink Center.

We sold out of several items last year, so be an early bird shopper if there’s something special you have your eye on. *Especially if you want the Warren Buffett signed diamond pendant*

See you there!

Most Expensive Items at Borsheims? Huge Diamonds!

Friday, May 2nd, 2014

Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, like their leader Warren Buffett, sometimes get the reputation of being frugal.

We have cases and cases full of jewelry, watches and gifts that will fit in a frugal shopper’s budget.

But we figure there are some shareholders who have enough BRKA shares that they can afford some of the most expensive items we have at Borsheims for Berkshire Hathaway weekend. (And the rest of us enjoy looking at them, too!)

In no particular order, I present some of our luxury jewelry currently in store:

Emerald Cut Diamond Ring available for $4 million at Borsheims.

Emerald Cut Diamond Ring available for $4 million at Borsheims.

This might be the most expensive piece in store this weekend. At $4 million, it’s a pretty good sized diamond ring. 15 carats to be exact.

Art Deco Earrings

Kerry Washington

See why these earrings are so cool? Fred Leighton brought these estate art deco diamond earrings to Borsheims. Kerry Washington only borrowed them, but you can take them home for a cool $55,000.

Fred Leighton Victorian Era Necklace $120,000If you want the most bang for your buck, get a necklace that can also double as a tiara. Another piece from Fred Leighton, but this time it is from the Victorian Era. Seriously, you can wear it as a tiara or a necklace. That makes the $120,000 price tag a little more appealing, doesn’t it?

Yellow Diamond Ring

Let’s return to the big diamonds. How about a 40 carat yellow? $2.8 million sound about right?

RahaminovIf yellow isn’t your color, try this one out. It’s a 20+ carat diamond for $2.9 million.

Tara Triple Strand

If pearls are more your thing, this triple strand from Tara will make you swoon. The natural colored pearls are set in platinum for $369,000.

Here is the most amazing part, shareholders. The prices I listed are retail prices. You will get the Borsheims price AND THEN the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder discount on top of that. Imagine how much money you’ll be $aving by shopping at Borsheims!
