Insider Tips for Friday’s Cocktail Party at Borsheims

Friday, May 5th, 2017

Are you ready to party with thousands of your closest shareholder friends while checking out some of the world’s most amazing jewelry, watches, and gifts?

Get ready! Because the party at Borsheims starts in just a few short hours!

Here are some helpful tips for getting the most out of your Friday night Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend kick-off party:
  • Plan ahead for parking. It will be tight and some of the businesses near Borsheims will tow if you park in their lots. My ideas: carpool, Uber or taxi, or ride the Borsheims shuttle from Westroads that runs from 5:30-10pm. There will be a lot of signage up to direct you at Westroads.
  • Bring your patience for the bar and buffet. We have two of each – a full set-up inside Regency and a full set-up in the tent outside. They’re both usually packed with long lines, especially when the party begins at 6pm.
  • You want to dance? Hit up the tent outside. We’ve got a great band playing! Bluehouse is a local favorite!
  • Shopping is a bit tricky on Friday night with all the people. If you’re serious about shopping, we recommend arriving earlier in the day to allow you the best shopping experience. You can still shop Friday night, but moving around the store is a bit more difficult.
  • Bathrooms? The porta-potties outside might be your best bet. Otherwise there are restrooms back by the fountains in Regency or through Borsheims gift gallery near customer service.
  • Remember it’s a cocktail party! Bring your cocktail party attitude and get ready for some fun! You’ll be mingling with other shareholders, getting an eyeful of beautiful jewelry, and enjoying the excitement that Berkshire weekend always brings.
We’re so glad to have you here! If you have any tips – or any questions – hit me up at the shareholder info booth at Borsheims or leave a comment here.

New in the Borsheims Gift Gallery for 2015

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

Borsheims is known for its jewelry – as well we should be. We offer an incredible selection of some of the finest jewelry in the world all at an amazing price for our customers.

But we’re also known for our beautiful gift gallery. It, too, has a vast selection of some of the finest gifts. And, again, it has that great Borsheims pricing which makes every purchase a great deal.

We’ve added a few new lines in the gift gallery since last year’s Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. Some are very unique.

Teyros Collection

Aren’t these so cute? This is a line of bowls, plates, tea pots, planters and vases from Tyros Collection. The artist used to be a doll designer, but decided to mix her doll making with table ware art. We love styling these ladies and gentlemen.

This bar cart and the items on it are from designer Jan Barboglio. The cart retails for $3,000.

These wall hangings are flying off our walls. Sugarboo makes a series of them (you can see just a few on our website). They range in price but are around $300 (without the shareholder discount). There are a few I’d love to hang in my house!

We have loved having these bowls from Andrew Pearce in the store. And Andrew himself joined us for a signing event earlier in the year. His wooden bowls and serveware are beautiful – and he’s no stranger to Borsheims since we’ve sold glassware made by his Dad (Simon Pearce) for years.

IMG_7912This line of acrylic tableware is also proving to be popular. Made by the line Mario Luca Giusti, this is an affordable and colorful way to boost your outdoor entertaining. Plus it won’t break in your luggage on your trip home!

Take a walk through our gift gallery this week. And remember to pick up some items for all your events this spring: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, weddings, etc. Everyone loves a Borsheims box!

Look Who’s Coming to Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Weekend…

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

Here at Borsheims, we have well over a hundred vendors who supply our store with all the beautiful jewelry, watches and fine gifts you see when you come in to shop.

Those vendors LOVE to visit us for Berkshire Hathaway weekend! It’s a fun weekend and a great chance for these vendors to get their products in front of more than 35,000 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders. In return, they bring in one-of-a-kind pieces that are so rare, you would likely never find them all in the same store anywhere else in the world.

Alex Woo jewelry

Alex Woo's Tiny Treasures are a favorite of celebrities. Alex Woo herself will visit Borsheims the Friday of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

So who’s coming this year? A lot of your old favorites will be here and some new names as well. Alex Woo, the jewelry designer herself, will be here on Friday to meet with shareholders. All of our watch lines will have representatives in the store and will bring in extraordinarily rare timepieces for you to check out. And in our gift department, we will have several designers, including Matthew Placzek and his sculptures (not all are this large!).

Check out the entire list of vendors who are scheduled to visit Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway weekend by visiting the Vendors section of this blog.

It feels like Spring in Omaha!

Friday, March 15th, 2013

It is a beautiful day in Omaha today. It feels like spring!

That means two things: Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend cannot be far away (seven weeks if you’re counting)…

And people will be digging out their golf clubs today.

We dug ours out at Borsheims, too.

Want to see?

This is a piece from On Tour Golf, a company from artist Jeff Diamond in Florida. We brought some of his golf club sculptures into Borsheims in advance of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

Many of his pieces are more than just sculptural. He has a lamp, bottle openers and other items he deems fit for a “man cave” or any other room in the house.

We love these pieces – especially because they make us feel like the weather is getting warmer and that Berkshire Hathaway weekend is just around the corner. Stop into Borsheims to check them out or put them on your must-see list when you come to Omaha in just seven short weeks!

New Gift Items for Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Things are bright – very bright – in the Borsheims gift gallery. Several new lines in the fine gift department will greet Berkshire Hathaway shareholders this weekend and nearly every line is in bright, beautiful colors.

This hand-painted and wood-burned furniture from Sticks will greet shareholders at the entrance to the gallery. Sticks owners say they create finely crafted and beautifully designed object art, accessories and furniture that can best be described as unique, fun and imaginative.

Consuela (on the right) is another new line at Borsheims. They hand-craft rustic picture frames, boxes and crosses in their workshop in Texas.

Borsheims is always proud to feature merchandise from local artists and this artist is no exception. Anne Nye Art Glass is the brightest thing I’ve seen in a long time! Check out all the brilliant colors – and this is just a small sampling!

But if that’s not enough color, feel free to host your next party with polka-dot serveware and drinkware from Detroit Glass. This product is beautiful and very affordable!

Shardz’ creator, Fay Miller, says her handblown art glass is inspired by the beauty, geometry and harshness of the natural world.

Here’s something not in brilliant color, but in gorgeous bronze. Manuel Ferreiro creates each individual bronze art object with a story in his mind. He includes the story and meaning behind the piece in a card that accompanies the art. Come check out the story behind these spectacles at Borsheims!

The Royal Couple may be receiving some gifts from Mary Rose Young pottery as wedding gifts this weekend. The company out of Great Britian crafts a unique range of ceramics in unique color combinations. What do you think… is this Princess Kate’s style?

And I don’t know who wouldn’t love this style. These are called glassscapes and I think they are the coolest new line I’ve seen this year. Stone Ridge Glass makes these interactive and moveable sculptures, and they even light up! They have some abstract and some representational. Both are available at Borsheims.
