Omaha World Herald: 400-pound eagle sculpture on sale

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

We love our local newspaper. And Warren Buffett does, too! He purchased the Omaha World Herald this past year.

And if stories and pictures like these are any indication, we know why! Of course, we might be a little biased about the 400-pound eagle. It is for sale at Borsheims!

Taking the Stars & Stripes Theme to Heart

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Some of our vendors at Borsheims seem to be taking the Berkshire Hathaway issued Stars and Stripes theme to heart.

First we had the giant eagle outside of Borsheims, by Omaha artist Matthew Placzek.

Now we have an eagle inside the store! Roberto Coin Eagle RingThis one is small enough you can wear it on your finger. It’s from jewelry designer Roberto Coin. Only 10 were made and we are happy to have one here in Omaha this weekend. It retails for $29,000 (and you know Berkshire shareholders get a discount!).

As with all Roberto Coin jewelry, there is a ruby hidden inside it. Rubies are believed to bring health and happiness to the wearer.

It was installed yesterday and it’s beautiful!

Bronze Eagle

See it there underneath the tree just to the right of the entrance? The bronze eagle is 5 foot tall with a 6 foot wingspan. And it weighs about 400 pounds.

Bronze Eagle up closeIt looks beautiful outside of Borsheims, but it will likely not be there long. This is one of the items for sale at Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. The retail price is $62,000, but of course there’s a special price for shareholders.

So think about it… maybe you have the perfect new home for this eagle. We know how to ship!. The artist is from Omaha – Matthew Placzek – and he tells us this is #2 of 9 total, and #1 is located at a Social Security building in Pennsylvania.

Berkshire Hathaway 2012 Theme: Stars and Stripes

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Every year, Berkshire Hathaway’s corporate office sets a theme for Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholders meeting. This year, it’s Stars and Stripes. We’re taking that the patriotic route, and nothing is more patriotic than a gigantic bronze eagle. Right?

Retail price on this beautiful Matthew Placzek piece is $62,000. The price for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders will be much less. Placzek also has much smaller pieces in the store. The Omaha-based Master Sculptor captures both the human form and works of nature in his artistry.

Make sure to stop by and see the Eagle as you enjoy this Stars and Stripes weekend.
