Plan your Berkyville Buys Now!

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

We’re almost two weeks away from the most fun annual shareholders meeting on the planet!

It’s time to start thinking about what deals you can score when you shop in Berkyville – the huge convention center filled with Berkshire Hathaway companies selling their goods to you at a steep discount.

We don’t know yet what kind of great deals our sister companies like Pampered Chef and Brooks will be running this year.

We do know the Bookworm (not a Berkshire company, but a friend) has released its list of Warren Buffett-approved books they’ll have on site. Click here to see what the Oracle hopes you read.

And we’re ready at Borsheims to share the incredible deals on jewelry, watches, and gifts we’ll be offering. These deals are available both Friday and Saturday at the CenturyLink Center and they really are incredible. We have diamond studs, pearl strands, watches, and all sorts of Berkshire Hathaway souvenirs you’ll want to take home at you – at prices that no one can beat.

Watch the video to get a glimpse of all we have to offer this year. But act quick if you want to purchase during Berkshire weekend. Many of our items sell out quickly!

Answering your Questions about Credentials…

Tuesday, March 21st, 2017
I’m getting a lot of questions about how to get your hands on credentials for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. Let me tackle the most asked-for information:
  • You must have shareholder credentials to attend the weekend’s official events, including the Borsheims cocktail party, Borsheims shareholder-only shopping day, the annual shareholders meeting on Saturday, the Berkyville shopping area in the CenturyLink Center, and to receive the discounts at Borsheims and Nebraska Furniture Mart.
  • You can receive your credentials (up to 4 per shareholder) by filling out a form that came in your annual report from Berkshire Hathaway and mailing that form into Berkshire Hathaway. They’ll then send you your requested credentials in a few weeks.
    • If you didn’t receive an annual report, contact your stockbroker and ask them to send you one.
    • If you still can’t get your hands on an annual report, see the next step.
  • You can get credentials once you arrive in Omaha for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. On Friday, May 5 from 11am to 6pm and Saturday, May 6 from 7am to 4pm, visit the Shareholder Services kiosk inside the CenturyLink Center. Bring a photo ID and proof of stock ownership (like a statement from your broker) and you will be given your credentials.
  • If you still can’t seem to get your credentials, there are always a few ways to gain access:
    • Berkshire Hathaway’s corporate office usually puts some credentials for sale on eBay for about $5 each (to keep scalpers from selling them)
    • Find a shareholder who doesn’t need all four of their credentials and ask them to share.
  • If you are a member of the media, you’ll need to contact Berkshire Hathaway headquarters directly for credentials. Please call them at (402)346-1400. You must go through their office to be credentialed for the weekend’s events.
Hope that helps! We’re excited to see you all in Omaha very soon!

Buy Borsheims Jewelry at the CenturyLink Center Today, Tomorrow

Friday, April 29th, 2016

Along with the other Berkshire Hathaway companies, Borsheims assembles a great little pop-up-shop at the CenturyLink Center during the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting.

This year, the Borsheims booth has a new and improved layout, which should help the line move even more quickly.

As for jewelry, we have the same favorites (diamond studs, engagement rings, pearl necklaces, sterling silver earrings, and bracelets) and a few fun new items.

The biggest sellers might be these BRK necklaces in yellow gold or white gold – available in both necklace and bracelet form. They’re each $775.75.

These Swarovski Bella studs always sell out quickly – and they’re a great price at $55.

We have diamond studs in a broad range of prices and sizes.

Watches and cufflinks might appeal more to the men.

And don’t forget all the other Berkshire Hathaway memorabilia and jewelry. Browse this slideshow to get a peek at what all will be available at the Borsheims booth at the CenturyLink Center. And remember we are open there today from noon until 5pm and tomorrow (Saturday) from 7am until the meeting wraps up about 4pm. Hope to see you there for some shopping!

Check out our Borsheims and #BRK2016 Coloring Book!

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016

You guys! I have a new favorite souvenir item to commemorate this year’s Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting. Check it out!

Not only is it the coolest, but it’s also $5! This coloring book is for adults or kids – and is full of Borsheims and Berkshire related images.

Here are two of my favorites:

Coloring Book Jewelry

Coloring Book Warren and Charlie

Maybe it’s because I spend a good chunk of each day coloring (4 kids will do that to a person!), but I think this coloring book will be a best seller.

We have a few other items that are bound to be bestsellers, too. You can peruse all the memorabilia in this slideshow below, and click here to purchase some of the items now. The rest will be for sale at the Borsheims booth in the CenturyLink Center on Friday and Saturday of Berkshire weekend.

What Warren Buffett says about Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Weekend

Saturday, February 27th, 2016
The big news about the 2016 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting was announced a few weeks ago – it will be webcast for the first time. In Warren Buffett’s annual letter to shareholders – released today – he says:
“Charlie and I have finally decided to enter the 21st Century. Our annual meeting this year will be webcast worldwide in its entirety.”
This is huge news. Warren Buffett says they made the change because they’re hoping to keep attendance at the meeting the same or even slightly lower. We were at capacity last year – both in terms of the CenturyLink Center where the meeting was held and places for people to stay in the area.

Buffett’s other reason is age. Charlie Munger is 92. Warren is 85. They say shareholders should be able to see them occasionally to “monitor how we look and sound.”

The team at Yahoo will no doubt do an excellent job with the webcast. You can sign up for a reminder alert or watch it here.

I did note that in the schedule for the webcast – it will begin carrying coverage of the annual meeting at 9:30 CDT. That means those watching online will not get a chance to watch the phenomenally funny video that kicks off the meeting each year. Chalk that up as another great reason to come to Omaha to see the meeting in person.

Last year, Berkshire Hathaway offered shopping hours for the first time on Friday at the CenturyLink Center in Berkyville. It was a hit (we can attest! Our Borsheims booth was wonderfully busy!). The same shopping hours will be held this year – noon to 5 on Friday, April 29th and 7am – 4:30pm on Saturday, April 30th.

It looks like everything else at the meeting will look a lot like it has for several years now. When you have a great thing going – why change it?

We’ll still have the Borsheims Cocktail party to kick off the weekend on Friday, April 29th from 6 to 9pm.

Saturday, April 30th, the doors to the CenturyLink Center will open at 7am. The movie will start at 8:30 and the meeting will begin at 9:30. Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger will again take questions both from the audience and from the panel of financial journalists. The meeting will wrap up about 4:30 – in plenty of time for people to get to the picnic at Nebraska Furniture Mart from 5:30 – 8pm or do any other number of fun things around Omaha.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett concede their table tennis match to Olympian Ariel Hsing during the 2015 Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders weekend.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett concede their table tennis match to Olympian Ariel Hsing during the 2015 Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders weekend.

Sunday, May 1st, the Brooks Berkshire 5K will start at 8am. Then head on over to Borsheims for the shareholder only shopping day from 9am – 4pm. At Borsheims, expect the magician, the bridge experts, and table tennis champ Ariel Hsing.

The weekend wraps up Sunday evening with dinner at Gorat’s. It’s tough to get a seat – so they start taking reservations on April 1st. (We’ll remind you as it gets closer – don’t worry!). Warren Buffett’s other favorite restaurant, Piccolo’s, closed this past year.

That’s it! So really the only change at this year’s annual shareholders meeting and weekend is one that won’t even be noticeable to the shareholders who come to Omaha for the fun – the addition of the webcast.

We can’t wait! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Look Inside the CenturyLink Center Exhibit Hall

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015

I assume that most of the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders will make it to the CenturyLink Center exhibit hall, especially since we had two days of shopping this year instead of one.

But in case you weren’t able to go (or just miss it so much now that it’s closed for the year), I wanted to give you a glimpse as to what you were missing in Berkyville.

The official map to the exhibitors hall lists 49 booths, although some Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries like Dairy Queen have more than one site.

Take a look through this slideshow to check out Berkyville. Many of the shot were taken before the doors opened to shareholders for the day. Know that the booths were crazy crowded after that!

What to Buy at the Borsheims Booth at CenturyLink Center

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

Did you remember we get two shopping days at the CenturyLink Center this year instead of one?

In Warren Buffett’s annual letter to shareholders, he announced that Berkyville will be open both Friday and Saturday to accommodate the thousands of shareholders who want to do a little reinvestment of their Berkshire dollars!

At Borsheims, we order special merchandise just for the CenturyLink Center booth. Much of it is Berkshire-themed, and all of it is great!

Take a look at this youtube video for a full rundown of what’s at the booth. And we’ll see you Friday from 12-5 or Saturday from 7-4 at the CenturyLink Center.

50th Anniversary Jewelry for 50 Years of Berkshire Hathaway

Tuesday, April 28th, 2015

At Borsheims, we know how to celebrate anniversaries. After all, it’s what we’ve been doing for more than a century.

We’ve helped married couples far and wide find the perfect way to commemorate their wedding anniversaries. Our corporate gifts team helps companies recognize employees who are celebrating milestone anniversaries. And this year, we are helping Berkshire Hathaway shareholders to mark a big anniversary – 50 years of Berkshire Hathaway as an investment company.

This type of occasion calls for jewelry!

We ordered some very special jewelry pieces to commemorate 50 years of Berkshire Hathaway.

These pieces will only be available on Friday and Saturday at the CenturyLink Center from the Borsheims booth.

We expect this limited edition stock certificate pendant (seen on the left) to be a hot item, so we made it in several different styles. The one featured here is gold with diamonds. We also have gold without diamonds, sterling silver with a gold frame and sterling silver. The pendant is held onto the chain with the letters BH. The prices range from $160 for the sterling silver version to more than $10,000 for the gold pendant with over 3 carats of diamonds.

50 Charm Pendant

We have another 50th anniversary pendant that we’re selling for $50. It is the 50th anniversary charm pendant, featuring a 50 and Berkshire Hathaway on the front and Warren Buffett’s signature on the back. It is sterling silver with a yellow tone.

If you’re more a bracelet type, we have you covered, too. And we won’t stop you from commemorating 50 years with cufflinks, earrings, watches or rings either. They might not all say ’50’ on them, but they’re still a great way to celebrate.

See the slideshow below to check out all the special Berkshire Hathaway commemorative pieces and other items for sale at the Borsheims booth at the CenturyLink Center. And get there early! Some of these limited edition pieces will sell out quickly!

Buffett’s Berkshire (Almost) Autobiography To Sell for $20

Monday, April 13th, 2015

It’s not an official autobiography, but the Omaha World Herald’s Steve Jordon says it’s as close as we’ll probably get to one. Warren Buffett is releasing a Berkshire Hathaway 50th anniversary book during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend and it sounds like a thing of beauty.

The book was originally expected to be inexpensive, with mainly reprints of Buffett’s annual letter to shareholders and other documents. But the project grew and it is now a 120-page hardcover book, says Jordon in his Sunday Omaha World Herald Warren Watch column. He says the book will sell for $20 and only at the CenturyLink Center during the Friday and Saturday shopping periods. And it will have photos with captions written by Buffett.

Read all about it in Jordon’s Warren Watch column.

We can’t wait to get our hands on the book and add it to our collection of Berkshire Hathaway-related reading material!

Fun, Sales-Filled Morning at Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting

Saturday, May 3rd, 2014

What a difference a few extra thousand shareholders make! Everything seemed busier this morning at the CenturyLink Center for the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting. It could be because Berkshire Hathaway said to expect 38,000 shareholders this year (up from 35,000). Or maybe it’s because they opened the doors about 15 minutes early. Either way – it was wonderfully crazy!

CenturyLink CrowdsThis was the Borsheims booth at the CenturyLink Center at about 6:45 this morning. We had a pretty good line going all morning long, at one point stretching out into the aisles of the convention center. Good thing our crack sales staff moved the line quickly and efficiently.

The Warren Buffett-signed diamond pendant will be available only at the CenturyLink Center during Saturday's annual meeting.

The Warren Buffett-signed diamond pendant will be available only at the CenturyLink Center during Saturday’s annual meeting.

No surprise – the hot sellers were the Warren Buffett signed diamond pendants. They were a truly great deal. A high-quality half-carat diamond pendant (which would usually retail for $2,500), laser inscribed with Warren Buffett’s signature (which makes it worth a lot more, right!?!). We sold each of our 25 pendants for the shareholder special price of $1,750. They were gone by 9am.

We also sold out of all our our Swarovski earrings and bracelets, our Warren and Charlie USB ports, our Berkshire Hathaway mens watches, and our Berkshire Hathaway keychains. And that was by 10am!

We were so happy to see all our shareholders from around the world and to help them take a piece of Berkshire Hathaway history home with them.

We do have some Berkshire Hathaway memorabilia left at our booth at Borsheims main store in Regency Court. Come visit us there or at the CenturyLink Center this afternoon to pick up your own piece of Berkshire Hathaway and Borsheims.
