Buffett-Signed Diamonds, Pearls, & Pens Hot Sellers at Borsheims

Omaha, NE – Berkshire Hathaway shareholders snapped up anything emblazoned with Warren Buffett’s signature during the 2017 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend at Borsheims. Diamonds, pearl strands, and pens featuring the signature of Berkshire Hathaway’s Chairman were among the best selling items, with the pens selling out the first day of the shareholder weekend.

Borsheims has offered a $15 ballpoint pen featuring Mr. Buffett’s signature for a few years now, but this year Borsheims offered a Mont Blanc rollerball pen with a black precious resin cap and barrel and Mr. Buffett’s engraved signature on the barrel. The pen sold for $246 and all of the pens were purchased by the end of Friday night’s shareholder-only cocktail party at Borsheims. The pen is still available for special order online at Borsheims.com.

The pearl strands featuring Warren Buffett’s signature engraved on the clasp were also new this year. Several strands of the pearls were made by TARA Pearls and sold, both white and multi-colored. On each strand, Mr. Buffett’s signature was engraved on the clasp and adorned with diamonds. You can see and download a photo of the pearl strands featuring Mr. Buffett’s signature here.

The Warren Buffett signed diamonds have been extremely popular with shareholders since Borsheims first started offering them in 2014. Borsheims brings in a very limited supply of loose diamonds featuring his signature, and shareholders who purchase them can have them set in a ring, stud earrings, or a pendant necklace. Some shareholders even keep the stones loose and return year after year to purchase additional signed diamonds to add to their collections. Each diamond featuring Mr. Buffett’s signature is part of Borsheims Signature Diamond collection, which is mined and polished in Canada. The signature is engraved inside the diamond, and requires a jeweler’s loupe to view. You can see and download a photo of it here.

Borsheims President & CEO Karen Goracke called it another successful Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. “We love being able to host shareholders from all over the world during this weekend, and we know they love all things Warren Buffett,” Goracke said. “We were not surprised they were buying up all things ‘Warren’ and finding lots of tangible ways by which to remember their trip.”

Borsheims shareholder pricing continues through this Saturday, May 13th.

Borsheims Fine Jewelry and Gifts is one of the nation’s largest independent jewelry stores and a proud member of the Berkshire Hathaway family. With an international clientele spanning 50 states and six continents, Borsheims continues to operate with the vision that has guided the company for more than a century: “We are privileged to share in the special moments in our customers’ lives. We will treat this opportunity with the respect and importance it deserves.”

Next Sunday = Mother’s Day. Shop now!

Sunday, May 7th, 2017

Today is a big day at Borsheims, with Mr. Buffett appearing at the store to play games and see shareholders.

But Mr. Buffett himself would tell you not to forget the importance of next Sunday. Mother’s Day. If you have a mother in your life, make it easy (and a bit more affordable) on yourself by shopping today. Borsheims has a huge selection of jewelry, watches, and gifts that mom’s love – in all budget categories.

Here are some winning ideas from me. And I should know – I’m a mom of four!

A Roberto Coin letter is a great option. How cute are these? You could get you children’s initial(s) or get mom her own initial. They’re diamond pendants on white gold and are a little over $500 each.

Lagos has been one of the most popular brands at Borsheims the past few years. Their bracelets are infinitely stackable and can easily go casual or dressy. They start around $150 and go up from there.

For moms more into rings than bracelets, these stackable birthstone and diamond rings are fun. They range in price (depending on the birthstone) but start around $700.

I love this idea for a mother in your life who is an excellent dog-mom. How cute is this diamond paw-print necklace? It’s $445.

Borsheims gift gallery is also a perfect place to shop for mom. This collection from Spartina starts with the small case around $20 and the wallet for $45.

A house full of growing kids sometimes can use a boost in the good scent department. So this beautiful and great smelling candle is a welcome gift. At $40, it’s an affordable gift.

And if you need a way to literally tell mom you love her, this Ben’s Garden tray will do the trick. Mom can use it as a catch-all, serve food on it, or just stare lovingly at it each time she needs to feel the love from you. The best part? It’s only $48.

And remember – on each of these prices, our Berkshire Hathaway shareholders will get a discount. That just means you can buy more for mom! Your shareholder pass gets you an extra discount through Saturday (the day before Mother’s Day).

Happy shopping, shareholders!

Borsheims Cocktail Party Goes Worldwide!

Saturday, May 6th, 2017

We love that the appeal of Berkshire Hathaway is universal. We talked with shareholders last night from all over the world as they arrived in Omaha to take part in Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

In addition to the shareholders who travel from near and far, we also have members of the media who send stories back to their homes for everyone interested in seeing what Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend is all about. And we’ve definitely seen an increase in media from other countries over the past several years – particularly in media from China and India.

One of those crews last night had a great opportunity to chat with Borsheims CEO Karen Goracke from the middle of the shareholder cocktail party. Watch the interview below to see what Karen tells Berkshire Hathaway shareholders and fans in India via Economic Times Now’s Tanvir Gill.

Our local crews love to cover the festivities, too! You can watch the coverage from the local ABC affiliate by clicking here, the CBS affiliate by clicking here, and the NBC affiliate by clicking here.

We’re Going on a Jewelry Tour at Borsheims!

Friday, May 5th, 2017

You’ve never seen jewelry cases as packed as we have them at Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. As we walked around the store, we compared the cases (and the store) to a super-crowded street market, but only with high-end jewelry, watches and gifts.

Whether or not you plan to buy – and whether or not you’re a shareholder- all fans of jewelry should stop into Borsheims in the next few days to check out the amazing pieces brought in specifically for this weekend.

Here’s a tour of a few pieces that caught my eye during a quick walk around the store. Start your tour in the Luxe Salon – the circular area in the center of the store. It’s full of our most exquisite pieces and you could honestly spend all day there looking at jewelry that is rare enough to be found in museums.

Check out the Warren Buffett signed diamonds first. They’re on your right and are limited edition. They sell fast every year, so if you want one, sit down and buy one right away. They’re usually gone by Sunday!

Directly across from the Warren Buffett signed diamonds are the Warren Buffett signed pearl strands!

We told you earlier today about the one-of-a-kind pearl strands from TARA & Sons featuring Warren Buffet’s signature on the clasp. They’re even more incredible in person. This strand is very long featuring multi-colored pearls. The clasp is gorgeous in itself – covered in diamonds and Mr. Buffett’s signature. They are definitely worth a peek yourself.

While you’re checking out the pearls with Warren Buffett’s signature, you an go ahead and give this pearl and amethyst cuff a glance. It’s really three-dimensional and set in 18k rose gold, which gives it a lot of warmth.

While you’re wandering around the Luxe Salon, head over to the Kalahari Dream Diamond collection, where each diamond is mined in the Kalahari Desert region of southern Africa. The sales of these diamonds are earmarked to build a well in a village in Botswana that doesn’t have access to clean water. Beyond the feeling of doing good that you’ll get from buying these diamonds, you’ll also get an incredible set of diamond jewelry! The necklace features nearly 11 carats of diamonds and retails for $165,000. The earrings are diamond studs with a removable jacket totaling more than 9 carats and retailing for $95,000.

Keep going around the Luxe Salon circle and you’ll run into a few cases from Rahaminov. Each piece there is more amazing than the last. The true showstopper this year might be this 30 carat oval diamond ring! Watch how it scintillates as it moves!

Once you’re done there, pick your jaw back up off the floor and exit the Luxe Salon and you’ll walk straight into a case full of diamonds in every color of the rainbow – courtesy our friends at JB Star.

We have fancy intense blue, fancy pink, fancy intense green and on and on and on.

These range from $2.5 to $4 million each. They’re phenomenal.

Take a right from JB Star and you’ll see a big section of our cases devoted to Roberto Coin. Always a favorite our Borsheims shoppers, my personal favorite Roberto Coin piece this year is this rooster ring, celebrating the year of the rooster!

How fun is this! He’s #1 of 25 total in the world. I’ve never had a rooster made solely out of sapphires set in 18k white gold. Why not now? For the price of $14,500 retail, it can be yours.

Walk around the next island to find the Mattia Cielo collection which is full of movement due to the titanium wire used in each piece.

It bends and moves and is very light and super cool. Check their ring out, too!

Those bands move back and forth, drawing attention to the gorgeous diamonds underneath.

You’d really be missing out if you didn’t wander on over to our watch section, especially to the Cartier counter. This Reves de Panthere has nearly 600 diamonds and is a WOW piece! Take it home with you for a cool $166,000.

That’s all the tour I could get in within an hour, but I’m sure you can see just as much or more. There’s plenty in here to view!

And remember to bring your shareholder pass so you can get a discount on all these fabulous pieces!

Insider Tips for Friday’s Cocktail Party at Borsheims

Friday, May 5th, 2017

Are you ready to party with thousands of your closest shareholder friends while checking out some of the world’s most amazing jewelry, watches, and gifts?

Get ready! Because the party at Borsheims starts in just a few short hours!

Here are some helpful tips for getting the most out of your Friday night Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend kick-off party:
  • Plan ahead for parking. It will be tight and some of the businesses near Borsheims will tow if you park in their lots. My ideas: carpool, Uber or taxi, or ride the Borsheims shuttle from Westroads that runs from 5:30-10pm. There will be a lot of signage up to direct you at Westroads.
  • Bring your patience for the bar and buffet. We have two of each – a full set-up inside Regency and a full set-up in the tent outside. They’re both usually packed with long lines, especially when the party begins at 6pm.
  • You want to dance? Hit up the tent outside. We’ve got a great band playing! Bluehouse is a local favorite!
  • Shopping is a bit tricky on Friday night with all the people. If you’re serious about shopping, we recommend arriving earlier in the day to allow you the best shopping experience. You can still shop Friday night, but moving around the store is a bit more difficult.
  • Bathrooms? The porta-potties outside might be your best bet. Otherwise there are restrooms back by the fountains in Regency or through Borsheims gift gallery near customer service.
  • Remember it’s a cocktail party! Bring your cocktail party attitude and get ready for some fun! You’ll be mingling with other shareholders, getting an eyeful of beautiful jewelry, and enjoying the excitement that Berkshire weekend always brings.
We’re so glad to have you here! If you have any tips – or any questions – hit me up at the shareholder info booth at Borsheims or leave a comment here.

Have $1 Million to Spend at Borsheims? Here’s how!

Thursday, May 4th, 2017

It would be horrible if you were walking around Borsheims this week with $1 million in your pocket and no idea how to spend it.

We’re here to help you part with your money – and to receive something stunning in return!

So here are a few ideas that are all right around $1 million retail. Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, of course, get a discount and will have plenty of money left to buy other fun souvenirs from the weekend!

First up, how about a just-over 15-carat cushion cut diamond. It’s set in platinum with another 1+ carats of trapezoid diamonds surrounding it.

If your fingers are already laden with diamonds, perhaps a diamond pendant necklace is in order. It’s a 7.60 carat pear diamond set in 18k yellow gold. It retails for just under $1 million.

Maybe you prefer a necklace to a pendant? Hard to argue with 55.26 carats of diamonds in this platinum Diamond Riviera necklace that retails for $1 million exactly.

“But I prefer my diamonds yellow,” you say? Okay, we have a 20.21 carat radiant cut fancy yellow diamond ring that’s just a smidge over $1 million.

But again, that’s all retail pricing. Shareholders get a bargain!

These amazing pieces are all from one of our favorite vendors, Rahaminov. They have a spread of jewelry priced below and far above $1 million, and it’s all in our Luxe Salon during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. Stop in today and let us help you part with your million dollars!

Rare, Collectible, Heirloom Jewelry at Borsheims

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017

In addition to the incredible recently-mined diamonds at Borsheims for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend, we are also bringing in a selection of rare, collectible jewels from Siegelson, New York.

We’re talking jewelry and artwork about a century old and worn and owned by the elites and near-royalty of the time.

If you love heirloom pieces, these are must see jewels this week. If you really love them, they’re must-buy pieces!

I want to highlight a few pieces in the collection:

This is the Mughal Heart – a heart-shaped Golconda Diamond necklace.

The center heart-shaped diamond weighs in at more than 30 carats. It is a D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamond and an extremely rare gem.

It was owned for years by the Drexel family, a prominent British-American family. They were bankers and financiers and founded Drexel University. The heart was passed through a few generations of the Drexel family, including to socialite Noreen Drexel who wore it on my occasions, including at the Tiffany Ball where she was photographed chatting with John and Jackie Kennedy.

I love this diamond bow brooch from 1904. Made by Cartier, it is an openwork millenarian ribbon bow brooch with floral and foliate motifs, set with old European-cut and rose-cut diamonds. The diamonds total more than 43 carats and the brooch measures about 4.5 inches across.

A very different piece is this Art Deco Retrograde Colored Gemstone and Diamond Gazelle Clock. Siegelson tells us this clock is an incredible example of the retrograde movement perfected in the 19th century. This clock has the hour hand rotating for twelve hours before a spring brings it back to the initial twelve, while the longer minute hand operates similarly over a 60 minute interval.

The sculptures are three gazelles made of aquamarine, resting on an agate and lapis lazuli platform above a fountain with rock crystal waterfalls cascading into an agate pool. It’s an incredibly unique piece and a rarity to find one this extraordinary for sale.

These unbelievable pieces – and more – are arriving in store this week and will all be on hand by Friday to greet the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders. And they’re all for sale! Come and in to see these heirloom pieces for yourself. Maybe you’ll fall in love and take one home with you!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Berkshire!

Thursday, April 27th, 2017

This is a picture from a few years back, but I feel like we’re getting there at Borsheims! No shareholders sporting passes around their necks yet, but I was just on the sales floor and things are definitely starting to look Berkshire-ready.

Let me give you a little tour of how things are shaping up at Borsheims.

The gift gallery is quickly filling with new and exciting pieces. These sculptures and home decor by Michael Aram are stunning. The gold is absolutely beautiful and check out one of our favorite pieces:

It’s Icarus – known for flying too close to the sun. He’s displayed in front of a gorgeous painting by Michael Aram. It’s worth checking out in person.

Our Judith Leiber purses are elegantly squeezed into the display case so we can fit the most in for our shareholders. I love this frog prince.

The gift gallery isn’t getting all the attention. We have a new area in the store designated for Monica Rich Kosann jewelry. It’s become a fast favorite among customers.

My favorite Monica Rich Kosann pieces are the lockets. They’re lovely – not too flashy but absolutely perfect.

The sales floor is ready and we’re packing in more jewelry by the day, with some of the biggest and most amazing pieces arriving next week just in time for shareholders. You can beat the rush and shop now, and don’t forget the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders discount period starts on Monday at Borsheims!

What Jewelry, Watch, Gift Vendors will be at Borsheims?

Tuesday, April 25th, 2017

Borsheims is known as one of the largest independent jewelry stores in the nation. That’s based on square footage of the store itself as well as the wide inventory of jewelry, watches, and fine gifts carried in the store.

Each spring, we carefully go through our list of jewelry, watch, and gift vendors to invite a select few to join us for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

Those vendors then bring in their absolute best goods for the weekend. We’re talking art-museum quality jewelry pieces, the first glimpse at a new and highly-anticipated watch, and one-of-a-kind artwork for your home or office.

This year, we have another spectacular rundown of vendors joining us for the weekend. You can access the entire list of our vendors here. We have dozens of additional brands available in the store, but we cannot possibly fit all of our vendors and all their extra goodies in the store at once so we do have to limit which lines can actually send vendors and additional merchandise for the weekend.

Do you like this year’s list? Are there any vendors you want us to include in next year’s list? Or any lines that we don’t carry that you’d like to see in store at Borsheims? Let me know in the comments!
