Record Number of Colored Diamonds at Borsheims

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

If Borsheims had its own theme for this year’s Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend, it might be colored diamonds!

We are swimming in them (not literally… although that would be very, very cool!).

They were once reserved for royalty and the very wealthy, but we have them in all shapes, sizes and price points!

From a pink diamond ring for under $10,000 to a Majestic bracelet retailing for $8 million, we have it all!

They are all for sale this weekend at Borsheims. Come buy one from our friendly sales associates. Or buy one from our one-day-a-year sales associate, Warren Buffett. He promises a “Crazy Warren” price!

Here are some of the most unique pieces:

We are calling this ring the "traffic light ring." It has fancy purple pink, fancy vivid yellow and fancy intense yellowish green diamonds. It retails for $436,000.

The Majestic Pink Diamond Bracelet can never be duplicated. It has 204 square-cut marquise and raidant pink diamonds totalling more than 43 carats. Every diamond in this bracelet has its own GIA certificate. There are not enough diamonds remaining of this color and quality to make another bracelet like this one. It retails for $8 million.

Trends in Jewelry for Berkshire Shareholders

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

On an average day, Borsheims carries more jewelry than most of the other jewelry stores in the nation. But this is no average day. This is a day leading up to Berkshire Hathaway weekend, which means all our jewelry vendors are bringing in even more jewelry than usual.

With such an amazing selection of jewelry at Borsheims, we thought we could give you a quick primer on some of the trends in jewelry that have been popular among Borsheims shoppers over the past few months.

Brown and black diamonds have been gaining in popularity over the past few years, and this sideways cross is right on trend. These have been very popular with celebrities and the sideways cross has many meanings.

Ceramic jewelry has also been right on trend. These pieces from Roberto Demeglio have been so popular, we have had a hard time keeping them in the cases!

Rose Gold jewelry has been incredibly popular for the past couple of years. It is a great tone against many people’s skin and is universally flattering. These pieces from Toby Pomeroy are beautiful.

We have also seen an increasing demand for lockets. It seems like the perfect gift for many of your spring giving occasions (like Mother’s Day, Graduations, weddings and bridal showers.) Designer Monica Rich Kosann provides these very pretty keepsakes.

Crystal Fish Ready for Berkshire Shareholders

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

At Borsheims, we always bring in some extra special items for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. I’m not sure a foot-long Swarovski Crystal studded fish has been in the mix before. This Swarovski crystal studded fish is at Borsheims for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

Check it out!

The fish is from Thorson Hosier and retails for $9,800. Of course, any Berkshire Hathaway shareholder who is interested in purchasing it would get a pretty hefty discount on it. You’ll have to come in with your credentials and ask to figure out just how much that is. Thorson Hosier has also brought in a collection of frames, vases and mirrors that are absolutely beautiful, especially if you are a fan of Swarovski crystals.

Take a look at a few of their other items in our slideshow of gifts available at Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend, or stop into Borsheims where we already have some on display.

Do NOT Look at the Forecast, BRKers!

Monday, April 29th, 2013

Pack your bags, hop on the plane (or into the car) and come to Omaha this week for the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting!

Know that it is beautiful here today. It may reach 80 degrees!

And it should be just as beautiful tomorrow.

But DO NOT look at this 7-day forecast for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.

Really, you shouldn’t. It may make you sad.

KETVYou were warned.

The good news is that most of our events at Borsheims are inside (or in a tent that gets nice and warm).

The other piece of good news is that any snow that might come this first weekend in May will be light and likely won’t cause any travel problems.

Bring a jacket!

FAQ: Where can I get Shareholder Credentials

Monday, April 29th, 2013

Count this question as one of the most frequently asked ones here at Borsheims: Where can I get my shareholder credentials?

If you didn’t request (and thus didn’t receive) your shareholder credentials in the mail in the past few weeks, you should call Berkshire Hathaway headquarters directly and request some. Their phone number is (402)346-1400.

We cannot provide you with credentials here at Borsheims or on this blog.

And if you happen to get to Omaha without your credentials or forget yours somewhere along the way, you can visit the shareholder information kiosk at the CenturyLink Center. It is open Friday, May 3 from noon to 6pm and Saturday, May 4 from 7am to 4:30pm. You will need to bring a photo ID and proof of ownership. For full details, check out the Berkshire Hathaway sharholders weekend visitor’s guide.

He’s Back! Warren Buffett, Salesman, Returns to Borsheims

Friday, March 1st, 2013

After offering customers his “Crazy Warren” price last year, Warren Buffett says he will once again go from Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway to salesperson at Berkshire-owned jewelry store Borsheims. In his annual letter to shareholders, Buffett said he sold $1.5 million last year when working the counter. He promises this year that he won’t quit until he hits $2 million.

Buffett plans to work the sales floor during the Sunday of his Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend, held annually the first weekend in May. That means this year Mr. Buffett will help shareholders make their purchases on Sunday, May 5th. Last year, his customers purchased jewelry to get engaged, celebrate anniversaries and commemorate milestones such as a college graduation. Mr. Buffett worked with Borsheims President & CEO Susan Jacques to find a “Crazy Warren” price that gave the customers a great deal on their exceptional jewelry.

Ms. Jacques said she is thrilled to have Mr. Buffett back as a salesman. “It is so fun to have Mr. Buffett selling in our store,” Jacques said. “We are thrilled that he will once again experience what we do every day – helping our customers celebrate the special occasions in their lives.”

Borsheims is one of the nation’s largest independent jewelry stores. Proudly celebrating its 23rd year of being a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, the store is known for its extensive selection of jewelry, watches and gifts, its exemplary customer service and its exceptional Borsheims price.

Warren Buffett Letter Coming March 1st

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

In a first since 2008, Warren Buffett will release his annual Letter to Shareholders on a Friday afternoon. Although Mr. Buffett usually prefers a Saturday morning letter, regulatory deadlines this year will push the letter to Friday, March 1st.

We always love the letter for the insight it gives to Berkshire Hathaway. But we also love it because it outlines the fun planned for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend (May 3 – May 5). We’re already well into planning for the fun at Borsheims!

Read the letter on Berkshire Hathaway’s website on March 1st. Or just come back to this blog for all the highlights!

Official Twitter Hashtag of Berkshire Hathaway weekend?

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

For anyone who follows us on Twitter, this will not be a surprise. We are suggesting the use of #BRK2012 for the official hashtag of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend this year.

(We figured it made sense since last year we did #BRK2011… and #BRK2010 the year before).

What do you think? We see a few others have already followed our lead. If you’re on Twitter, follow us there, too! @BorsheimsBRK

The Eagle has Landed for Berkshire Hathaway Weekend

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012
It was installed yesterday and it’s beautiful!

Bronze Eagle

See it there underneath the tree just to the right of the entrance? The bronze eagle is 5 foot tall with a 6 foot wingspan. And it weighs about 400 pounds.

Bronze Eagle up closeIt looks beautiful outside of Borsheims, but it will likely not be there long. This is one of the items for sale at Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. The retail price is $62,000, but of course there’s a special price for shareholders.

So think about it… maybe you have the perfect new home for this eagle. We know how to ship!. The artist is from Omaha – Matthew Placzek – and he tells us this is #2 of 9 total, and #1 is located at a Social Security building in Pennsylvania.
