Omaha, NE – Dozens of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders had the opportunity to purchase jewelry from Warren Buffett today (Sunday, May 5) at Borsheims Jewelry in Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Buffett offered shareholders his “Crazy Warren” pricing – a big discount off the shareholders already large discount they receive during the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend.
Shareholders interested in buying jewelry from Mr. Buffett have been working with sales associates and making appointments for weeks. The times to buy from Mr. Buffett booked up quickly, with a record number of shareholders requesting appointments.
Mr. Buffett’s sales ranged from diamonds to watches to a ruby ring.
Here are a few stories about what he sold:
- A young man wrote Mr. Buffett a letter saying he wanted to buy his engagement ring from him. Mr. Buffett wrote the man back, saying he would. The man bought the diamond ring from Mr. Buffett Sunday afternoon and Mr. Buffett told him, “it comes with a guarantee that she’ll say yes.”
- One shareholder found a ring with brown diamonds in the shape of a snake. She was born in the year of the snake and had always wanted a snake ring. Mr. Buffett sold her the ring, then posed for photos with the shareholder and her snake ring.
- Another shareholder bought three of Borsheims new signature diamonds*. She plans to have them made into earrings and a ring. She made the purchase with her children and grandchildren standing around her.
The Borsheims Signature Diamonds are new this year at Borsheims. Borsheims highly knowledgeable staff worked with a diamantaire in finding the best possible cut for the new line of stones. The result is a star cut into the culet of the diamond, giving the diamond additional fire and brilliance. (The culet is the tiny facet or point on the base of gemstone that reflects light passing through the stone.) These diamonds come from Canada’s Northwest Territory, where miners and environmentalists have worked closely together for the past decade to determine the best and most environmentally-friendly way to extract the diamonds forming there for more than three billion years. Each Signature Diamond is laser-inscribed with a one-of-a-kind identification number, the Borsheims name and a maple leaf guaranteeing its Canadian origin. The ID numbers are registered with the GIA, allowing customers to always be able to identify their diamond and trace its roots back to the mines in Canada.
I’m sure they did… but we didn’t get to see or hear any of it.
We were here.
Berkshire Hathaway shareholders wait to buy jewelry and memorabilia at Borsheims Booth at the CenturyLink Center
And we were swamped! You all must have read about the great jewelry deals we had going that were ONLY good for today and ONLY good at the CenturyLink Center.
We sold out of several of the items in the first few hours.
We stil have some left, though. So if you’re shopping this afternoon, stop by and see what we can get you.
And hopefully, the lines will be a bit shorter now.
Thanks for shopping at our Borsheims Booth!
I’m sure we’ll catch up on all of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s wit and wisdom soon.
It’s $8 million (that’s retail – shareholders will get it for much less!).
Each stone is so incredible, it has its own GIA certificate. It is unbelievable to find this many stones close enough in size, color and shape to match and assemble a bracelet.
If you have any questions while you’re attending the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder-only cocktail reception at Borsheims tonight, or during the shareholder-only shopping day on Sunday, come see me here.
It’s the shareholder information booth in the center of Regency Court, just outside of Borsheims.
I can answer your questions about bathrooms, taxis, medics and everything in between!
Warren Buffett is known for his philanthropy. He does a lot of good with his money – all over the world and here at home in Omaha.
One of the charities Mr. Buffett helps here in Omaha is Youth Emergency Services, or YES. It’s a place for teens to turn when they need a place to live. This group has been helping homeless and at-risk youth in Omaha for years.
This weekend, you can help YES, too.
Come and see me at the Shareholder Information Kiosk in the center of Regency Court (right by the mall entrance to Borsheims) and buy a raffle ticket for $10 each.
The raffle ticket will enter you into a drawing to win this cartoon of Warren Buffett delivering newspapers. It is autographed by Warren Buffett and the cartoonist, Jeff Koterba.

Warren Buffett will draw the winner of the raffle on Sunday afternoon (May 5) at Gorat’s. You do not need to be at Gorat’s to win the raffle.
So see me at the info kiosk in Regency Court today, tomorrow or Sunday with $10 in cash (or more cash if you want more tickets!) and I’ll get you all signed up for the raffle. You can help homeless teens in Omaha and take home an autographed souvenir from Warren Buffett at the same time.
